Education

I graduated with my master's degree in Spanish and Latin American literature from the University of Virginia. Before that, I graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and English from the University of Florida. In between my degrees, I lived in Madrid, Spain where I taught English to children, high schoolers and adults. I have also traveled extensively through Spain, and I've visited a number of other Spanish-speaking countries.

Experience

I am a native speaker of Spanish and English, and I have nine years of experience teaching world languages. For several years, I taught AP Spanish, Spanish 4 Honors, Spanish 3, Spanish 2 and English as a Second Language in Virginia public high schools. In 2012, my AP Spanish Language students had an 88% pass rate on the AP exam (3 or above). In 2013, my AP Spanish Language students had a 92% percent pass rate with an average score of 4.23 out of 5. In addition to high-school level instruction, I have also helped clients ranging from medical professionals needing basic communication to government employees needing training for advanced Spanish-language exams. I have been tutoring for over ten years, and have experience tutoring any age: from small children to working adults. I am dedicated to my students' success and try several approaches to ensure my students learn.

Hobbies

I am passionate about language and cultural immersion experiences. My favorite hobby is traveling. I have traveled to over 20 countries. I enjoy reading, learning languages, arts and crafts, and listening to music. I also know several types of latin dance and I am happy to teach them to my students! **Please note: I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. My students can expect the same amount of notice from me as well. If the lesson is cancelled within the 24-hour period, I will have to charge the rate for the session. This policy saves everyone's time!
